In a world where we’re more connected than ever, thanks to the internet, it’s ironic how often we feel disconnected. What’s the true purpose of our lives, and what legacy are we leaving behind? We’re all part of this vast, interconnected world, yet many of us find ourselves living lonely, empty lives filled only with material possessions. The evidence is clear: strong social connections and meaningful relationships can enrich our lives and even help us live longer.
As soft skills take center stage, it’s essential to recognize that while we shine in our hard skills, we often overlook the softer side of our humanity. This is especially relevant in both our professional and personal lives. We all need to get better at taking care of each other and building deeper meanings to create more meaningful businesses and happier lives.
I recently had the honor of sharing my CARE model
~ Communication, Authenticity, Relationships, Empathy ~
developed through my journey into understanding human behavior and cognitive science.
A heartfelt thank you to LW3, Omar Naeem and Andrew Weinman, and the team at the Hermitage hotel in Nashville TN, for an incredible conference experience!
The conference was primarily attended by family office principals, family office executives and investors, as well as institutional investors, including private equity managers and venture capitalists.

Live with Purpose Using the CARE Model
COMMUNICATION
is about more than just exchanging words; it’s the art of truly connecting with one another. It involves active listening and asking those thought-provoking questions that spark real dialogue. So, how often do we genuinely listen to each other? By engaging in meaningful conversations, we can deepen our connections and foster collaboration.
Insight to Consider: Engage in active listening by giving your full attention to others during conversations and asking open-ended questions that encourage deeper dialogue.
AUTHENTICITY
is about knowing your core values and having the courage to express them. It’s an invitation to reflect on who we are and what we believe in. Authenticity allows us to connect with others on a deeper level, as it fosters trust and openness. This raises a critical question: What do we stand for, and how does that shape our interactions with others? By embracing our true selves, we can inspire those around us to do the same, creating a culture of honesty and integrity.
Insight to Consider: Reflect on your core values and express them genuinely in your interactions, creating a space for others to do the same.
RELATIONSHIPS
are the heartbeat of our lives. They add richness and meaning to our experiences, reminding us that we’re not alone on this journey. Strong relationships contribute to our emotional and physical well-being. Consider this: How do the relationships we cultivate today influence the legacies we leave tomorrow? By nurturing these connections, we create a support system that fosters growth and resilience.
Insight to Consider: Make a conscious effort to nurture your relationships by reaching out regularly, showing appreciation, and being present for those you care about.
EMPATHY
is the bridge that connects us as human beings. In a world that sometimes feels divided, it is crucial to cultivate a deeper understanding of each other’s experiences and perspectives. Empathy goes beyond sympathy; it requires us to step into someone else's shoes and appreciate their feelings. How can we nurture empathy to create a better world for the next generation as part of our legacy? By fostering empathy, we can build a compassionate society that prioritizes understanding and connection over division.
Insight to Consider: Practice empathy by actively trying to understand others’ feelings and perspectives, validating their experiences, and responding with compassion.
